area tracking a single digit wins so not as breezy as what we've experienced for the past couple of days. closer look at temperatures, cooler and the north bay, 56 and oakland, low 50s in downtown san francisco. temperatures will continue to drop. we are not in our morning lows just yet. that will occur closer to sunrise. into the afternoon, more eighties and we saw yesterday. low 70's at east bay shoreline. downtown's san francisco today i think we will add a degree as 66 degrees. satellite and radar shows what weather to be well to our north. the extreme pacific northwest, but high pressure continues to build over in our area which means a gradual warmer weather. we will attack a degree each and every day lasting through saturday where we

made today on proposition 8. the supreme court is slated to rule this month on california's board approved a ban on same-sex marriage and that ruling could come down this morning. a lot of marriage plans are in limbo- just limbo as the clock countdown. kron4's grant lodes break down a few of the possible scenarios. >>grant: pet >>grant: the simplest outcome proposition 8 is declared on constitutional. --unconstitutional. in boxing terms, that's a knockout. boom! the legal debate is over same sex

marriages are legal in every state. or the court could throw out prop 8 on more narrow technical grounds, . collet 80 k zero. the decision would apply to california only. but california will join the growing number states where same-sex marriages are legal. or the court could uphold the end of the fight. it will likely trigger a voter initiative to overturn proposition 8. and public opinion has shifted in favor of same-sex marriage since it was passed in 2009. that's a no decision at a decision in effect sending the case back to a ruling by federal judge vaughn walker, three years ago. he ruled that proposition 8

unconstitutional. but there are enough ambiguities in his ruling to generate a new round of appeals. all the way back to, you guessed it, the supreme court. >>james: and even if the supreme court ruling is clear out, there won't be any same-sex weddings in california this month. his- high court rulings typically take 25 days before they are final. >>james: the clock is ticking on negotiations between bart and its biggest union of the one that represents station agents, train operators and mechanics. there are now rumors of a possible strike.

union reps call that a worst-case scenario mud-but admit that both sides are far apart in negotiations. bart management says it's prepared a contingency plan if there is a strike. they're working with their services and the empty seat. as for bart union workers, they said negotiations don't seem to be improving. two state mediators are now involved. working to bridge the gap between bart and its labor unions. union reps, though, say bart is showing no signs of a budget when it comes to better salaries and benefits. >>james: the film fruitvale station which depicts the last day of oscar grant the third life before he was fatally shot by a park police officer, will be screened for the first time

in oakland tonight. the film 'fruitvale station' has already received critical acclaim up when the awards at the 20132013 sundance and cans film festival earlier this year. oscar grant's mother wanted johnson already saw the film at sundance says it brought back a lot of memories. the movie opens nationwide on july 12th. >>james: pacifica police say reports of an attempted child deduction that happened when they turned out to be false. two little girls were walking together and told police that a man tried to grab one of them. officers said the stories that add up and the growth eventually admitted that the

>>james: 413 it is the time. james again dauphgandolfini thew jersey bred actor famous for his role as a mob boss tony soprano in " the soprano's " has died in italy. initial reports suggest he died from a heart attack or stroke. he was in rome on vacation and for a film festival. he largely stayed away from the press since the last season of the beloved show aired in 2007. he appeared in a number of films since then including " zero dark thirty " and the theater work in new york including the play " the god of carnage. " he was married and had a little girl born in october. he was only 51.

we are learning more about the driver who caused a major accident in southern california. he is accused of driving the wrong way and has been charged with drunk driving. rick walker pleaded not guilty wednesday to several dui charges 311 people were hurt in the accident. the crash happened monday on northbound 14 and out what don't j.-=-agua dulce. it also caused a huge traffic backup. walker is in custody of $430,000 bail. the carstensz fire still burning near the entrance to yosemite. more than 1,600 a. have burned. of the weather has been helping firefighters and a lot of people who had been evacuated from their

>>james: we are back at 439. watching wall street this morning. futures trading shows all three indexes and the-this morning. word from the federal reserve that it could start scaling back its economic stimulus program later this year sent a late shudder through the financial markets yesterday. here is a look at the closing numbers. hundred points moves have become standard for the dow for the past week. the dow ended the day down over 200. closing at 15,112. the nasdaq fell nearly 40 points to close at 3004 gergor 43. and the

s&p 500 lost 22 points to in the ad op 1628. we will see how the markets open at 630 with the opening bell. for years doctors have recommended that girls 14 to 19 and get the h p b vaccine to prevent certain kinds of cancer. new research shows that the vaccine is working even better than expected. with cases of the virus which commonly causes cervical cancer and down 56%. even the cdc is a price partly because only about a third of girls and the age right half receive the full backing. the cdc is pushing for more girls to get vaccinated. a new cnn national poll shows nearly two-thirds of americans a break the current economy as poor. but

>>james: 444 is the time. the city of richmond has become the first and contra costa county to approve a ban on plastic bags. the new ordinance is set to take effect january 1st. it also imposes a 5¢ fee on a paperback for two years, then rising to 10¢, which will be collected by the merchants. the fee is meant to encourage residents to use reusable shopping bags. restaurants are exempt from the band. some council members and residents are concerned that these may unfairly hit low-income residents. violating the new law could mean a $250 fine for retailers. the san francisco board of supervisors unanimously approved legislation that clarifies and tweaks the laws for the city's burgeoning food truck industry. the legislation

chief joe brighton--joel bryden who retired from the department last month. before holding the rope of lieutenant commander and citrus heights, chapin was a special agent in charge for the california department of justice is served for more than a decade at the sacramento police department. three people accused in a string of home burglaries on the peninsula have been arrested. they have been pulled over for a traffic stop in mountain view june 13th. an officer spotted suspicious property in the car and police said the car was linked to a burglary and sunnyvale. the suspects were reportedly involved in burglaries and palo alto, redwood city and san mateo county all in the same day. still in property was found inside their homes. police say because have identified the suspect and have had their property returned.

in operation cease-fire arrested led to the seizure of several assault weapons last week in oakland. while conducting a traffic stop on foothill boulevard near cemetery street friday night, chp officers discovered the driver was concealing a loaded semi- automatic handgun. the search of a vehicle found several high-capacity magazines, body armor, marijuana and cash. the search of the suspect home in san ramon led them to more assault weapons and cash. the driver, 33 year- old dion moses has been arrested. in total, officers seized five fully automatic high-powered rifles, one semi-automatic handgun, multiple high-capacity magazines containing over a thousand rounds of ammunition, $7,000 in cash, and an undisclosed amount of cocaine and marijuana. police have arrested three suspects in the fatal stabbing of a woman on

hollywood " walk of fame. " according to all parties, the victim a 23 year-old woman and a friend were taking pictures and the tourist pact area, when three panhandlers got into an argument with a one and late tuesday night. the victim was stabbed in the torso multiple times and later died in the hospital. we will take a short break.
